The "2018 Government Work Report" pointed out China's "mass entrepreneurship and innovation". College students have also responded to the call. However, entrepreneurship is a high-risk activity with a low success rate, so some universities have
set up entrepreneurship mentor teams. At present, student entrepreneurship service institutions or platforms are specifically responsible for organising and managing entrepreneurship mentors to carry out professional services and evaluating the services of
these mentors. In the practice of the guidance service of entrepreneurship mentors, what kind of influences do mentors have on college student entrepreneurs, and to what extend can which characteristics of entrepreneurship mentors enable college student
entrepreneurs to carry out entrepreneurship activities? This research is meant to maximise the impact of entrepreneurship mentors in colleges and universities, and study the impact of the characteristics on the college student entrepreneurs, which can provide solid
theoretical support for the improvement of the quality of college entrepreneurship mentors, the improvement of guidance methods and content. Based on this, the management countermeasures of universities for entrepreneurship mentors and related entrepreneurship platforms are proposed, so this study carries out this research.

The research content of this study includes: on the basis of combining and analysing the literature, this study unifies the characteristics of entrepreneurship mentors and their impact on college student entrepreneurs into a research framework. It analyses the relationship between the characteristics of entrepreneurship mentors and the impact on college student entrepreneurs, and divides the time for college student entrepreneurs to receive guidance from entrepreneurship their mentors into three periods. It then further explores the relation between the characteristics of entrepreneurship mentors and the impact on college student entrepreneurs, preliminarily designs two variables, namely the characteristics of entrepreneurship mentors and the measurement scale affected by college student entrepreneurs. In this study, 129 valid questionnaires were collected from interviews, telephone and online surveys of college student entrepreneurs registered on the innovation and entrepreneurship platform of Nanjing University.

The results show that the time investment of entrepreneurship mentors has a significant positive impact on the entrepreneurship ability of college entrepreneurs. The technical guidance of entrepreneurship mentors has a significant positive impact on the
entrepreneurship psychology of college student entrepreneurs. The information transmission of entrepreneurship mentors has a significant positive impact on the entrepreneurship ability, entrepreneurship psychology and social impact of college student
entrepreneurs. The support of entrepreneurship mentor spirit has a significant positive impact on the entrepreneurship ability and social impact of college student entrepreneurs. Based on the research conclusions, this study puts forward suggestions to further improve the role of entrepreneurship mentors for college students' entrepreneurship and the management suggestions of university innovation and entrepreneurship platforms for college students' entrepreneurship mentors.
